Overview

Power BI is Microsoft's analytics platform for turning raw data into interactive reports and dashboards. Instead of static spreadsheets, you build visuals people can filter, drill into, and explore.

The three pieces

  • Power BI Desktop — the free Windows app where you connect to data, model it, and design reports.
  • Power BI Service — the cloud where you publish, share, and schedule refreshes.
  • Power BI Mobile — apps to view reports on the go.

How this guide works

The first pages are free — install Power BI and load your first dataset. The deeper sections (modelling, DAX, sharing) are part of the paid guide. By the end you'll build and share a working report with your own measures.
